
Gamecocks to Face Auburn in SEC Semifinals
TRYON, NC – South Carolina Equestrian (6-5, 1-4) is set to compete in the semifinals of the SEC Championship on Friday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. The Gamecocks (the No. 4 seed) will take on No. 1 seed Auburn (11-2, 5-1) in the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The meet will be streamed live on SECN+.
South Carolina will look to add a third SEC Championship, previously going back-to-back in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gamecocks wrapped up the regular season at home, taking on No. 10 UT Martin and coming out with an 11-7 win. South Carolina took three of four available MOPs, and nine seniors were recognized for the final home meet of their career.
Fences got things started, with the Gamecocks taking the event 4-1. Natalie Jayne picked up her fourth MOP of the season in the event with her 86-84 victory on Dento over Kat Mills. On the Flat, South Carolina took things 3-1 with freshman Amira Kettaneh leading the way with her second MOP after defeating Payton Lassen 87-66.
Haley Turner rounded out the MOPs in Reining, coming out with a 72-70.5 win over Aubrey Malone to keep things tied 2-2 in the event.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
South Carolina faced Auburn twice in the regular season, with the Tigers taking both meets. Auburn’s only SEC loss this season was to Georgia, falling in a close meet 9-11 to the Bulldogs on the road.
The Tigers are the defending SEC champions, having won seven titles, including the last six consecutively.
