
Elbadra Claims Another Track & Field Program Record

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 28, 2025) – Day two of the Raleigh Relays has come and gone and with it another record has fallen for Gamecock Track & Field.
Salma Elbadra opened her Gamecock outdoor career on Friday afternoon in the 1500m and was able to run the fastest outdoor 1500m in program history to finish third overall in the field. The Wyoming transfer clocked 4:06.90 for the new program top time and the third fastest time in the NCAA this season. Elbadra is in her first semester with South Carolina and now holds four program records, including three indoor. Abigail White also etched her name in the top 10 records for the 1500m, running 4:26.10 for the fifth fastest time in South Carolina history.
The next event was the women’s 5K in which all three South Carolina runners recorded top 10 program identifiers. The Gamecocks were led by Cate Conklin who ran 16:17.14 to finish 37th overall with the fourth fastest time in school history. Emma Torbert clocked the fifth fastest 5K in Gamecock history, running 16:35.05. Mary Frances Iseman rounded out the South Carolina competitors in the 5K, running 16:52.08 for the 10th best mark in school history.
South Carolina closed the night with the women’s 10K as Anya Arroyo climbed into the South Carolina record book. Arroyo finished 18th overall with a time of 34.44.47 for the fifth fastest mark in Carolina history.
The Gamecocks will conclude the three-day meet tomorrow as both the men and the women will compete in the 800 meters. The women’s 800m will start at 12:40, while the men’s 800m will begin at 4:05 p.m.
