COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team was 0-4 on the week, falling in Tuesday’s game vs. North Carolina in Charlotte and dropping three games against No. 1 Tennessee.

Ethan Petry hit a pair of home runs on the week and now is up to 51 in his Gamecock career. He is now 11 home runs away from tying Justin Smoak for the all-time Gamecock home run mark.
Three different players had four hits in a game this weekend vs. Tennessee. Ethan Petry and Jordan Carrion each had four hits in Friday’s game while Beau Hollins had four hits in Saturday’s contest. They join Nathan Hall (Feb. 19 vs. Queens) and Will Tippett (Feb. 23 vs. Milwaukee) as Gamecocks to have four-hit days this season.
Jarvis Evans Jr., pitched six frames on Saturday, striking out five and allowing just four hits and three runs with only one walk. Evans is still a perfect 3-0 with a 3.62 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched in seven appearances and six starts.
Henry Kaczmar leads Carolina in batting average (.423) and RBI (7) in the Gamecocks’ nine SEC contests. Kaczmar had three hits and four RBI in the Tennessee series this past weekend.
Carolina hosts Presbyterian Tuesday night at 7 p.m., with the game televised on SEC Network. The Gamecocks then travel to Starkville, Miss., for a three-game SEC series at Mississippi State.
