Petry Named to Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. – University of South Carolina junior infielder/outfielder Ethan Petry has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, USA Baseball announced this afternoon (Thursday, April 3). Petry is one of 45 players on the list from high school and college baseball.

Petry is hitting .370 on the season with eight doubles, a triple, eight home runs and a team-best 27 RBI. The Land O’ Lakes, Fla., native is slugging at .685 and is getting on base at a 48.1 percent clip. He has walked 17 times, including five intentional walks. Petry has played at both first base and right field this season and has just two errors on the year.

Petry has 52 career home runs, which is second on Carolina’s all-time home run list. He also has 155 career RBI and needs 13 to get in Carolina’s top-10 career list for runs-batted-in.

Petry is one of 14 players on the list from the Southeastern Conference. He was on the Preseason Watch List for the Golden Spikes in both 2024 and 2025.

The Gamecocks start a three-game series at Mississippi State on Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m., EDT. The game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
