COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team was 2-2 on the week, defeating Presbyterian in seven innings on Tuesday and winning one of three games at Mississippi State.

NOTES:
Beau Hollins had four hits in Carolina’s 7-3 win over Mississippi State on Friday night. That included a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Hollins now has a pair of four-hit games. He also did that in the middle game of the Tennessee series. On the year, the freshman from Lexington, S.C., is hitting .325 with two home runs and 11 RBI.

Matthew Becker pitched 4.2 innings of relief on Sunday and struck out seven, allowing just three hits and one run with no walks. Becker now has 245 career strikeouts and is second on the team with 46 this season.

Henry Kaczmar homered twice in Saturday’s game against Mississippi State. He continues to lead the Gamecocks in SEC play with a .412 batting average, three home runs and 10 RBI. He is slugging .676 in conference play.

Brendan Sweeney picked up a three-inning save in Friday’s 7-3 win. Sweeney did not allow a hit in the three frames and struck out four. Sweeney has five saves on the season and 23 strikeouts in 15.2 frames.

Carolina hosts USC Upstate on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. The team then travels to College Station for a three-game series at Texas A&M that begins on Thursday night. That game will be televised on ESPNU.
