Licata Tabbed SEC Co-Field Athlete of the Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 8, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field veteran thrower, CJ Licata, is the first to bring home an SEC weekly honor this outdoor season as he was named Co-Field Athlete of the Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Licata opened his 2025 outdoor season on Saturday at the Florida Relays, claiming the victory in the men’s shot put. The veteran thrower and 2025 indoor national runner-up opened the season with a 20.17m (66-2.25) throw, ranking first in both the East Region and the NCAA. Licata stood atop the leaderboard from the first throw and never looked back, winning the invite section of the shot put.

Licata will return to action this weekend alongside his teammates as they play host to the Gamecock Invite on Saturday, April 12 at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
