Baseball Falls in Extras at Texas A&M
COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M’s Caden Sorrell led off the bottom of the 10th with a home run to give the Aggies the 8-7 win over the University of South Carolina baseball team Thursday night (April 10) at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Texas A&M scored a run in the first, but Beau Hollins quicky tied it with a leadoff home run to start the top of the second, his third of the year. Then with runners on the corners and one out, Cayden Gaskin dropped down a bunt and Dalton Mashore, who doubled earlier in the inning, scored on the squeeze play.
Ethan Petry hit his 54th career home run in the third to give Carolina a 3-1 lead. The Aggies took the lead for good in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs with the big hit a grand slam from Blake Binderup.
Carolina scored a pair of runs in the fifth as Gaskin scored on a throwing error by the Aggie second baseman and Jordan Carrion brought in Henry Kaczmar with a sacrifice fly to right. Texas A&M scored a run in the fifth but Nathan Hall’s fifth home run of the season brought the Aggie lead back to one run at 7-6.
In the eighth, Jase Woita tied the game as his pinch hit single scored Carrion. For the second time this season, the Gamecocks went to extras with Sorrell’s home run ending the contest.
