
Ford and Wrice Capture SEC Weekly Honors
COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 15, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field was on full display in Saturday’s outdoor home finale and with it came a pair of SEC weekly honors as JaMeesia Ford earned Women’s Runner of the Week and teammate Josiah Wrice was named Men’s Freshman of the Week.
Ford won each race in the home finale, running both the 100m and the 4x100m relay at the Gamecock Invite. The sophomore sprinter opened the meet in the 100m prelims and ran 11.20 (0.7) before running a new wind-legal personal best of 11.06 (1.4) to win the finals. Her time of 11.06 is the fastest wind-legal 100m in the world standings and ranks fourth in the NCAA rankings. She was also the anchor of the 4x100m relay that captured the podium with a time of 43.37 for the seventh fastest time in the NCAA this season.
Wrice opened the Gamecock Invite in the 4x100m relay as the second leg, leading South Carolina to a time of 39.83 for the win. He then competed in the 400m race and finished second with a new personal best time of 46.02 for the eighth fastest 400m time in program history. In addition, his 400m race now sits 11th in the East Region this year. The freshman sprinter closed out his competition in the 4x400m relay, helping South Carolina to a time of 3:09.14 to finish second overall and crossed the line as the top collegiate team in the field.
Ford and Wrice will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Michael Johnson Invite in Waco, Texas. The rest of the Gamecock will be split between the Michael Johnson Invite, Wake Forest Invitational (April 17-18) and the Tom Jones Invitational (April 18-19).
