Gamecocks Conclude Final Day of Razorback Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Jan. 31, 2026) – South Carolina Track & Field closed out a strong weekend with day two of the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. On the final day, the Gamecocks competed in a heavy dose of short sprints with a few longer events sprinkled in.
The men’s squad competed in just six events on the afternoon, turning in quality times along the way. Jaouad Khchina and Edouard Lecrivain were the lone long-distance runners of day two for the Garnet & Black men’s team, each recording Top 10 program times in the mile. Khchina improved on his personal best time when he clocked 3:53.90 to finish fifth overall and move into second all time in program history. Meanwhile, Lecrivain posted a mark of 4:03.25 in his season mile debut, sliding into fifth all time in Gamecock history.
The final advancement for the men on Saturday came via sophomore sprinter Josiah Wrice in the men’s 400m. Wrice improved on his indoor 400m personal best time when he outlasted teammate Jasauna Dennis for the top time in heat eight, crossing the line in 46.02 to finish seventh overall in the loaded field. Wrice’s new PR moves him into a tie with Dennis for the third fastest indoor 400m time in school history.
As for the women, South Carolina competed in eight events today with three new Top 10 program marks. Akala Garrett and Abir Reffas were responsible for the two individual Top 10 advancements on Saturday. Garrett, a Texas transfer, clocked a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles when she ran 8.11 in the preliminary round to move into a tie for third all time in school history. Garrett advanced all the way to the finals where she finished sixth overall with a time of 8.17. Reffas made her indoor mile debut at the Razorback Invitational and posted a time of 4:34.07 to finish fourth overall in the event, moving up into third on the Gamecock leaderboard.
The Gamecock women recorded the third fastest indoor 4×400 meter relay in program history as the quartet of Zaya Akins, Maya Love, Akala Garrett and JaMeesia Ford clocked 3:27.75 in the opening heat. The relay team finished third overall in the field with a new season best time, ranking third in the NCAA this season.
