Gamecocks Send Seniors off in Style at USC Invite
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 21, 2026) – Five Top 10 marks and seven wins were recorded as South Carolina Track & Field hosted the USC Invite at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Indoor Track & Field Facility to finish the home season.
Senior middle-distance runner, Eline Mast dominated in both the women’s mile and 800m in her final home meet for the Gamecocks. In the mile, she won and moved up the program leaderboard to seventh overall with a time of 4:47.08. In the 800m, she crossed the line with a personal best time of 2:09.13, capturing the win and advancing into 10th all time in program history.
In the women’s 3000m, three Gamecocks secured the top three spots with Hattie Jennings taking the win. Jennings recorded a personal best time of 9:37.68, also earning her the tenth fastest time in program history. Allie Matasich (9:40.47) and Ella Zeigler (9:58.33) solidified the 1-2-3 finish for Carolina.
Hailey Duncan and Akala Garrett displayed strong performances on the infield of the track in both the 60m sprint and the 60-meter hurdles. Duncan set personal best times in all three sections of the 60m, including running 7.69 in the finals for the bronze. Garrett tied her personal best in the 60mH, crossing the finish line in 8.11 in the finale, finishing runner-up as the top collegian in the field.
Carolina won in the women’s pole vault as the lone field event win for the women. Sophomore Jathiyah Muhammad earned the win with a height of 4.00m (13-1.5), her fourth victory of the season.
The men’s DMR squad of Jaouad Khchina, Andrew Salvodon, Edouard Lecrivain, and Carlos Lanzagorta-Ruiz showed out with the third fastest time in program history, finishing runner-up with a time of 9:36.71.
Jasauna Dennis secured a win in the men’s 400m with his season best time of 46.07 with teammate Devan Crumpton securing third with his personal best time of 46.40. The Gamecocks took the top two spots in the men’s 800m with Knox Eaton and Ricky Circelli clocking in with personal best times and advancements on the program leaderboard. Eaton ran a 1:49.18, climbing into seventh overall, while Circelli recorded the eighth fastest time in school history at 1:49.40.
Freshman pole vaulter Khaliq Muhammad earned his third win at home in men’s pole vault, finishing with a height of 5.32m (17-5.5), just shy of his personal best.
The women’s DMR team of Abigail White, Zaya Akins, Slyvia Chelangat, and Salma Elbadra traveled up to Winston-Salem and broke the program record at the ASICS Last Chance Invitational. Striving for a ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championship, the team recorded a time of 10:48.42, beating the previous program record by nearly three seconds. In addition, the quartet rank 11th on the NCAA leaderboard as the Top 12 teams will earn a spot at nationals.
The Gamecocks will return to action at the most prestigious meet in the country year in and year out, the SEC Indoor Championships. This year’s conference meet will run Feb. 27-28 in College Station, Texas.
