COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 4-1 on the week, winning a pair in the midweek and taking 2-of-3 in the Salute the Troops Tournament at Founders Park.

NOTES:
Talmadge LeCroy had an outstanding week at the plate, going 11-for-20 (.550) with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and five RBI while catching all five contests. He had multiple hits in all five games, including going 3-for-4 with an RBI against Gardner-Webb and belting home runs against Wofford and Army. LeCroy leads Carolina with a .467 batting average and seven RBI.
Will Craddock had a collegiate debut to remember as the freshman went 8-for-15 with nine runs scored, two doubles, a triple, two home runs, two walks and six RBI. He was a perfect 3-for-3 and reached base safely in all five of his plate appearance in the Gardner-Webb win on Wednesday. In the win over Navy on Saturday, he opened the first with a leadoff home run and added a two-run double. Craddock had four RBI in the game. Then on Sunday in the win over Air Force, Craddock once again led off the Carolina first with a home run. He also added a double in the 4-2 win.
Amp Phillips pitched an effective six innings in the win over Navy, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts and two walks in an 8-0 shutout on Saturday. Phillips faced the minimum in four of his six innings and used just 79 pitches in his frames. Phillips’ start led to Carolina’s first shutout of 2026. Phillips has a 1.86 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 9.2 innings this season.
Connor Chicoli got the Gamecocks on the right foot on Tuesday night at Wofford, pitching five innings and striking out four. He allowed five hits and a run with no walks in earning his first win as a Gamecock. Chicoli is now 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and seven strikeouts in six innings of work.
Patrick Evans had five doubles in four games this week for the Gamecocks. He had a pair in the Gardner-Webb game, one against Army on Friday and two more in the Air Force win on Sunday. Evans is hitting. 350 with six runs scored and four RBI this season.
Carolina hosts Queens on Wednesday night before facing in-state rival Clemson in a three-game set that begins at Founders Park on Friday night.
