Gamecocks Return to Course Saturday at The Hayt

South Carolina Athletics

Another strong field awaits this week at Sawgrass Country Club with eight teams ranked in the Clippd Top-25

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – South Carolina is back in action again this weekend at The Hayt (March 7-9) hosted by North Florida at Sawgrass Country Club. First round action gets underway Saturday morning for the 54-hole, stroke play event.

The Gamecocks will be paired with the host Ospreys and top-ranked Virginia for the opening 18 holes. Clippd will have live scoring for the tournament here.

It’s another strong field of competition this week for Carolina with eight teams ranked in the top-25 of the latest Clippd Team Poll.

It’s the same five-man lineup for the Gamecocks at Sawgrass that has played the first two spring events led by All-American Frankie Harris. He won the Puerto Rico Classic to open the spring and finished top-20 at the Southern Highlands Collegiate earlier this week in Las Vegas. The Boca Raton, Fla. native shot a new career-low score of 200 (-16) in Puerto Rico to win by a shot over Virginia’s Ben James and Josh Duangmanee.

Harris is joined again in the lineup this week by senior Zach Adams, sophomore Marek Fleming, junior Brock Blais and freshman Talan Harrison. Freshman August Petersson will play as an individual as he competes in his seventh event this season. Petersson played in the Coach Sykes Individual (Feb. 21-22) finishing T-7th to lead the quartet of Gamecocks playing in the shortened, 36-hole event due to weather.
