Baseball Completes Sweep of Princeton with Sunday Night Win
COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team used a season high in runs scored and a solid pitching performance from Amp Phillips in a 13-1, seven-inning win over Princeton Sunday night (March 8) at Founders Park.
KJ Scobey started the scoring with an RBI double in the first. After Princeton tied it with a solo home run in the top of the second, the Gamecocks put up two in the second on Tyler Bak’s single and scored four in the third, highlighted by a Logan Sutter two-run home run.
The Gamecocks put up six runs in the fifth as Talmadge LeCroy hit Carolina’s first grand slam of 2026. Another Scobey RBI double closed the scoring.
Will Craddock and Sutter had three hits apiece, while LeCroy drove in four runs. Sutter and Bak had three RBI apiece while Craddock had two RBI.
Phillips struck out seven and allowed just four hits and a run with two walks in five innings to improve to 2-1 on the year. Hudson Lee and Zach Russell each pitched a scoreless inning for Carolina.
