COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team was 5-0 on the week, defeating USC Upstate and Charleston Southern in the midweek and sweeping Princeton on the weekend.

NOTES:
Logan Sutter had an excellent week at the plate for the Gamecocks, going 9-for-16 with two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI, six runs scored, a .611 on-base percentage and a 1.438 slugging percentage. Sutter had home runs in each of the games against Princeton, including one that gave Carolina a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on Saturday. He was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored on Sunday and had three RBI games in three of the five contests. Sutter is now hitting .405 with five home runs and 14 RBI this year.
Brandon Stone pitched 6.1 innings on the week in two wins, allowing no earned runs with eight strikeouts in winning a pair of games for Carolina. In the 4-1 win over Charleston Southern on Wednesday, Stone pitched 2.2 innings, striking out three and allowing just four hits with an unearned run. Then in the 4-3 win over Princeton on Saturday, Stone struck out five in 3.2 innings while not allowing a walk. Stone lowered his ERA to 1.00 on the season with 20 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.
KJ Scobey had five doubles on the week in five games. He had eight hits in the wins and added a home run with five RBI and five runs scored. Scobey has a .342 batting average with nine doubles and three home runs this season.
As a team, Carolina hit .356 on the week with 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 43 RBI. Patrick Evans was 5-for-7 with three extra base hits in the two midweek contests, while Talmadge LeCroy drove in seven runs, including a grand slam on Sunday night.
Carolina will play all four of its games this week on the road, starting with a Tuesday night trip to Charleston to face The Citadel at Joe Riley Park. The Gamecocks open SEC play at Florida this weekend with all three games streamed on SEC Network Plus.
