2022-23 (SENIOR)

  • Started all 25 games he played in, averaging 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game ; missed the final six games of the season with a knee injury
  • Shot 47.6 percent (49-of-103) from behind the arc, the top mark in the SEC ; his 49 3-pointers were a career best ; recorded eight games with three or more made 3s
  • Scored in double figures 11 times with a pair of 20-point games
  • Had 16 points, three assists and two steals in a 60-58 rivalry win vs. Clemson (Nov. 11) ; went the length of the floor and hit the game-winning basket with 0.9 seconds on the clock ; was 4-of-6 from 3-point territory
  • Had season-high 26 points vs. Davidson, knocking down 6-of-8 shots from distance ; his six made 3s were a new single-game, career-best mark

  • Saw action in 24 games, making his lone start in a 105-75 rout of Army (Dec. 22) ; was 7-of-13 from the field and had 20 points and three steals
  • Shot 37.9 percent overall from behind the arc (11-of-29) in his first season in Garnet and Black
  • Averaged 4.2 points per game in limited minutes
  • Scored season-high 21 points at Clemson (Dec. 18) ; went 9-of-10 at the free throw line (both career highs) in the game
  • Had one double figure outing in SEC play, scoring 12 points vs. Florida (Jan. 15) on 5-of-9 shooting

PRE-SOUTH CAROLINA

  • Prior to time at Carolina, earned two letters at Murray State, averaging 9.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21.3 minutes per game (48 games played)
  • As a sophomore for the Racers, started the final nine games of the season, averaging 16.9 points during the stretch, hitting 51.8 percent (57-110) of his attempts from the field
  • Scored a career high 27 points vs. Tennessee Tech (Feb. 27, 2021), and dished out a career best nine assists vs. Brescia (Nov. 16, 2019) at Murray State
  • As a freshman, saw action in 22 games, averaging 6.3 points per game with 51 assists on the year
  • Played high school basketball at Cardinal Newman School in Columbia

PERSONAL

  • Son of Chico Sr. and Kitty Carter
  • Has a sister, Cierra
  • Both parents played basketball at Morris College, and his sister played basketball at Furman
  • Chico Sr. also starred in baseball, garnering freshman of the year, all-region, and all-conference accolades all four years and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1990 ; Chico Sr. also a retired member of the Army National Guard
  • Kitty also starred on the court, earning freshman of the year honors in 1985 ; earned her Masters Degree from the USC School of Public Health
  • Cierra had a standout career on the court for Furman (2015-18), earning several postseason accolades, including SoCon All-Freshman Team, and All-SoCon Second Team honors as a junior and senior ; she ranks 11th in Paladin history in scoring with 1,383 career points, and fifth in rebounding with 859 rebounds during her career
