Indoor: Ran at the SEC Championships in the Mile and took 17th with a time of 4:13.99 … Ran the Mile at the USC Indoor Open with a season-best time of 4:12.49 … Also ran the Mile at the Gamecock Opener and South Carolina Invitational … Ran the 800 meters once … Finished sixth in the 800 meters at the Gamecock Opener with a time of 2:03.17.
Outdoor: Ran in eight races for the Gamecocks … Ran at the SEC Championships in the 1,500 meters and finished 23rd … Ran his season-best time in the 1,500 meters at the UNF Invitational, clocking in at 3:51.19 … Won the Gamecock Invitational 1,500 meters with a time of 3:52.19 … Also ran the 1,500 meters at the Florida Relays … Ran the 800 meters three times … Earned top-10 finishes at the Florida Relays and USC Open … Ran his season-best time of 1:54.07 at the Florida Relays … Also ran the 800 meters at the UNF Invitational … Ran one 3,000 meters’ race and won it at the Weems Baskin with a time of 8:37.90.
2020
Indoor: Ran in eight meets for the Gamecocks during the indoor season, making a huge jump from his freshman season to his sophomore season… Was one of the Gamecocks top mid-distance runners, primarily running the Mile Run… Had his best performance at the Tiger Paw Invite where he ran a new PR of 4:16.99 in the Mile Run to take ninth… Ran at the 2020 SEC Indoor Championships in the Mile Run, finishing in 17th… Ran the 800m and the 1000m during the season, setting a new PR in the 800m at the Carolina Challenge in a time of 1:56.93… Competed in the DMR at the 2020 SEC Champinoships.

2019
Indoor: Ran the 800m, 1000m and Mile Run in his first collegiate campaign… had his best finish in the 1000m at the Orange & Purple Elite, coming in 15th with a mark of 2:33.60.
Outdoor: Competed in the 800m at four meets, including three top-10 finishes… finished fourth at the Buccaneer Invitational and eighth at both the Spec Towns Invitational and the USC Outdoor Open… ran his top time, 1:55.42, at the Spec Towns.
HIGH SCHOOL
Was a standout student-athlete at Green Hope High School, where he was coached by Jason Bochert… Was part of the top American 4x800m relay team at the 2018 Penn Relays… Finished second in the 4×800 at the indoor and outdoor 2018 New Balance Nationals… His 4×800 team set a North Carolina state record… Led Green Hope to a pair of North Carolina team state championships… Won seven individual state titles… Was a four-time Academic All-Conference honoree… Also lettered in soccer.
PERSONAL
Son of Nick Petersen and Thelma Fitzgerald… Has two brothers, Daniel and Rasmus… Majoring in finance at Carolina… Chose Carolina because of the team’s emphasis on academics as well as athletics.
