Program Overview

The Carolina Dance Team is an integral part of the University of South Carolina Spirit Program under the Department of Athletics. The team performs at all South Carolina home football games, men’s and women’s basketball games, as well as a multitude of other campus and community events.

The Carolina Dance Team is a nationally competitive program, having won three national championships in Division 1A Team Performance at NDA College Nationals in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In January 2025, the team will travel to Orlando, FL to compete in jazz and hip hop at UDA College Nationals for the first time in program history.

Members of the dance team must be full-time students in good academic standing at the University of South Carolina. Participation is a significant commitment from July through March, typically requiring an average of 20 hours per week for training, games and appearances. The athletics department provides dancers access to many benefits including:

• $1000 annual scholarship + opportunity for reduced tuition rate for out-of-state students

• Under Armour gear
• Team travel (bowl games and basketball tournaments)
