Outdoor: Finished three races for Carolina … Finished 27th in the 1,500 meters at the USC Open with a time of 4:10.99 … Ran a time of 8:57.61 in the 3,000 meters at the USC Open to take fourth … Took 10th at the Weems Baskin in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:42.65.
2020
Indoors: Ran at four indoor meets for the Gamecocks, spliting his time between the 3000m and the 5000m… Ran at the Gamecock Opener in the 3000m, taking 16th… Ran a PR of 8:55.83 at the USC Indoor Open to take eighth… Finished eighth at the Carolina Challenge in the 5000m in a time of 15:45.91… Ran a PR of 15:35.50 at the South Carolina Invite in the 5000m.
Outdoors: Cancelled.
2019
Indoors: Competed twice in the 3000m, with his best finish (20th) and his best time (9:05.97) coming at the Carolina Challenge.
Outdoors: Ran the 3000m at the USC Outdoor Open, placing 12th with a time of 9:13.52… Took part in the 5000m at two meets, including a fourth-place finish at the Buccaneer Invitational with a season-best time of 16:06.64.
High School
Lettered in track & field and cross country at Westfield High School for coaches Kelly Deegan and David Groff… Took part in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m and 4x800m relay… Guided Westfield to four indoor and outdoor conference titles… Individually, was a five-time conference champion, including two titles in the 3200m, two in the 1600m and one in the 4x800m relay… also won two region championships in the 3200… Was an all-state selection and a four-time state qualifier… Was named Westfield’s Most Outstanding Runner five times… Graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a National Merit Finalist.
Personal
Son of Chris and Jennie Joiner… Has one sister, Cameron… Chose Carolina because he wanted to enroll in the Honors College and he loved the beautiful campus… Plans to major in global studies at Carolina.
