2017, 2018 SEC Academic Honor Roll
2018
Indoors: Ran individually in four meets… finished third in the 500m at the Navy Winter Invitational… posted a season-best 400m time of 50.44 in a 13th-place finish at the Navy Winter Invitational… part of the 4x400m relay teams that crossed the line victorious at the Navy Winter Invitational and the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
Outdoors: Ran the 400m hurdles at four meets… finished fourth at the season-opening Black & Gold Challenge… posted his season best time at the SEC Championships, when he finished 15th with a mark of 53.60… part of the 4x400m relay team that finished second at the USC Open and ninth at the SEC Championships.
2017
Indoors: Competed primarily in the 400m… ran a season-best 49.41 at the SEC Championships, where he finished 38th… placed third in the 500m at the Clemson Invitational in a time of 1:04.69.
Outdoors: Served as Carolina’s top performer in the 400mH… earned third third-place finishes, at the Spec Towns Invitational and the USC Open… ran a season-best 53.11 at the USC Open in windy conditions… finished 12th at the SEC Championships, in a time of 53.33.
High School
Was the South Carolina 4A State Champion in the 400mH in 2016… Also finished seventh in the state in the 100mH… Placed seventh at New Balance Outdoor Nationals in 400mH… Also competed in the high jump.
Personal
Son of Keith and Ashley Griffin… Has three siblings, Brandon, Italia and Domonique Johnson… Intends to major in nursing at South Carolina… Chose South Carolina because he grew up rooting for the Gamecocks and received several scholarships to attend the nursing program.
