Indoors: Transitioned to the heptathlon during the indoor season… Indoor season culminated at the SEC Championships with a 16th place finish in the Heptathlon… Nearly matched his personal best in the 60m hurdles with a 8.33 at the Carolina Challenge… Competed in five indoor meets for the Gamecocks.
Outdoors: Cancelled.
2019
Indoors: Competed primarily in the 60m hurdles… made the finals of the Orange & Purple Elite, finishing sixth with a time of 8.47 in the final… ran a new PR, 8.30, at the Carolina Challenge… also took part in the 300m, 400m and 4x400m relay.
Outdoors: Ran the shuttle hurdle relay twice… helped the Gamecocks finish third at Florida Relays and second at Penn Relays.
2018
Indoors: Competed in six meets, primarily in the 60m hurdles… ran a new PR, 8.30, at the Carolina Challenge… made the final at the Orange & Purple Elite, where he finished sixth… also ran the 300m and 400m.
Outdoors: Ran the shuttle hurdle relay twice, with a third-place finish at Florida Relays and a second-place result at Penn Relays.
HIGH SCHOOL
Was a four-year letterman for coach Rod Lorick at Westwood High School… Won 2017 state championships in the 110m and 400m hurdles, and was also on Westwood’s 4x100m relay championship squad… Led the Redhawks to the 2017 SCHSL 4A state title… Also lettered in football… Sported Westwood’s highest male student-athlete GPA in 2016 and 2017… Was awarded a Teaching Fellows Scholarship.
PERSONAL
Son of Kareem and Mia Briggs… Has a cousin, Josh Jones, who ran track at Carolina… Plans to major in physical education, with the goal of coaching football and track & field… Chose Carolina because he grew up a Gamecock fan and wanted to train under Carolina’s world-class coaching staff.
