COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina track and field team kicked off the Spec Towns Invitational today with a total of 12 Gamecocks placing in five field events.
South Carolina boasted two student-athletes posting top-three finishes in their events for the day. Sophomore Stacee Roberts made her mark in the women’s shot put with a distance of 13.99 meters, allowing her a third-place finish. Freshman Breanna Radford and sophomore Katie Vuckovich followed close behind with fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively.
On the men’s side, junior Mike Zajac pulled through with a third-place finish in the hammer throw, accumulating a distance of 59.29 meters. Three Gamecocks followed behind one another in the triple jump with Aaron Searles, Antonio Brown and Jarrett Gerald capturing the sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively.
The Gamecocks continue action tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. with the women’s Invitational 5000-meter run. The field events are set to kick off with the women’s javelin at 11 a.m.
