Hello all!
Audrey here! I just finished up all of my finals on Saturday, and I am very anxious to get home to Jacksonville, Fla., to see my family (and await Santa’s visit). The team has been studying very hard all week to reach our goal GPA of 3.4, and as hard as we all have been working that is definitely achievable.
Before we all parted for winter break, we had a Christmas party at Ashley and Laura’s house. We all brought a food item to feast on, and Coach Compton made her world famous lasagna. It was delicious! My favorite part of the party was most definitely when the freshmen sang their Christmas song. It is our tradition that every year at the party, the freshmen must come up with a Christmas song, and the rest of us sing our song from the previous years. The freshmen and April sang and danced along to “Coach Compton’s Comin’ to Town.” It was quite a clever song, and I was not aware that Hannah had such impressive vocal skills!
Although it is winter break time, the Gamecocks never rest. We are aiming for great success this season and we will all be working individually for the next month to make sure that our game is as sharp as it can be come January. We will all be keeping a journal and record all the things that we do over break to share with the team when we get back. This way, we can set goals and watch our progress over break. We are also focusing on staying fit by doing our lifting and running routines daily. Eating right is also key to staying fit, and we all plan on maintaining a healthy diet over break.
I can’t wait till February 12th comes along! I know this is going to be a great season, and I look forward to kicking it off against College of Charleston at Beckham Field!
GOOOO Gamecocks! Audrey Broyles #80
Editor’s note: The blog will be back in January once practice and classes start back up. Enjoy your holidays!
