COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior offensive lineman Jamon Meredith earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District (III) Football Team. Voted on by College Sports Information Directors Association members, the award is based on the student-athlete’s combination of athletic and academic achievement. Meredith is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this fall. With Meredith’s selection, South Carolina is just one of five schools in the country to have a First-Team Academic All-District selection in men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball and football.

A sport and entertainment management major, Meredith has helped the Gamecocks to points in 28 of 32 trips into the red zone this season, including 18 touchdowns. Regarded as one of the team’s top offensive linemen, he has started 35 career games, including six this season. Meredith earned the Harold White GPA Award for the offense in Spring 2008 and was an SEC Fall Sports Academic Honor Roll selection in 2006 and 2007.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, be of sophomore academic and athletic standing at their current institution and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
