Junior tight end Jared Cook had a career night, grabbing eight receptions for 111 yards. His previous career highs were five receptions against Tennessee on Oct. 27, 2007, and 66 yards receiving against Mississippi State on Sept. 29, 2007.

Sophomore quarterback Chris Smelley had a career passing night with 23 completions on 39 attempts. His previous highs were 19 completions and 37 attempts both against Mississippi State on Sept. 29, 2007. Smelley also scrambled for a career-long 24 yards during a fourth-quarter drive.

In the first quarter, junior Darian Stewart forced and recovered the third fumble of his career.

Senior Kenny McKinley became the sole owner of the school record for consecutive games with a reception, collecting a pass for the 35th-straight outing.

Senior Kenny McKinley’s 19-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter was the 16th of his career, giving him sole possession of sixth place in school history. He is one out touchdown catch out of fifth place, currently held by Sterling Sharpe and Zola Davis. McKinley moved into fifth place in career receiving yards adding 23 tonight to sit at 2,199 in his career.

Sophomore Chris Culliver’s 50-yard kickoff return following Vanderbilt’s second-quarter field goal was the longest of his career.

With a sack in the second quarter, junior linebacker Eric Norwood moved into seventh place in school history with 14 career sacks.

Ryan Succop’s field goal to end the first half was the 32nd of his career, moving him into a tie with Daniel Weaver for fourth place in school history.

When Vanderbilt blocked a field goal in the third quarter, it was the first time a Gamecock field goal attempt has been blocked since the Nov. 11, 2006, game at Florida.

Junior Freddie Brown caught his first career touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
