The University of South Carolina is ranked 24th in both national polls released today. The Gamecocks are tied for 24th in the Associated Press poll with Illinois and are in sole possession of 24th place in the USA Today/Coaches poll.
South Carolina (1-0) shut out NC State, 34-0, in its season opener last Thursday night in Columbia.
The Gamecocks were ranked for eight weeks last season, climbing as high as number six in the A.P. poll after getting off to a 6-1 open to the campaign.
South Carolina will put its national ranking on the line Thursday night when they travel to Nashville to open Southeastern Conference action against the Vanderbilt Commodores. Kickoff is set for 8:36 p.m. on ESPN.
