COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina assistant diving coach Allison Brennan was selected to compete for Team USA at the 2009 AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix, USA Diving announced today. The former Gamecock All-American was one of four women’s divers selected to compete in the three-meter event.

Brennan, a native of Huntington Beach, Calif., was the 2004 NCAA Champion in the one-meter springboard, representing the first and only national championship won by a South Carolina aquatics athlete. She earned four All-America certificates in her Carolina career, ranking her among the university’s most decorated student-athletes.

Most recently, Brennan finished third at the 2008 Olympic Trials and was named an alternate for the United States Olympic Team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2007, she finished fourth at the U.S. Diving Grand Prix in three-meter, third at U.S. Nationals in three-meter, and sixth at the World Championships in the one-meter event.

Brennan will be joined in the three-meter competition by 2008 Olympians Christina Loukas and Ariel Rittenhouse, along with North Texas diving coach Summer Allman.

The USA Diving Grand Prix runs May 7-9 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
