COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sophomore quarterback Chris Smelley has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Smelley completed 22-of-32 passes for a career-high 327 yards and three touchdowns in South Carolina’s 31-24 win at Ole Miss. His three touchdowns tied a career-high and were for 20, 6 and 4 yards. Smelley connected on a career-best 63-yard completion to Jared Cook in the first quarter that set up a Gamecock touchdown.

For the season, Smelley has completed 99-of-157 passes for 1,171 yards. His completion rate of 63.06 percent is second among SEC quarterbacks.

Smelley also earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts against Ole Miss.
