COLUMBIA, S.C. – College Colors Day, a day dedicated for college enthusiasts to wear the colors of their favorite collegiate institution, is coming to Williams-Brice Stadium. This year, South Carolina fans, students and alumni will help the nation ring in College Colors Day as it hosts N.C. State in the College Colors Day Kickoff on the eve of the big day. College Colors Day 2008 will be celebrated Aug. 29.

College Colors Day, organized by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), coincides with “back to school” and the kick off of the college football season. College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that drive collegiate athletics by encouraging people from across the United States to dress in their favorite collegiate gear.

“Let’s get the College Colors Day celebration started off right, and show the entire nation what a sea of garnet looks like on August 28,” USC Head Coach Steve Spurrier said. “This is a great opportunity to get energized for College Colors Day and show your school spirit.”

“We are thrilled the University of South Carolina is hosting the College Colors Day Kickoff,” Kit Walsh, Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Collegiate Licensing Company said. “Sport your Gamecock gear to the stadium on Thursday night, and on Friday, wear your Carolina gear to work, school or play.”

The College Colors Day Kickoff starts at 8 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN. Stanford University will host a West Coast version of the College Colors Day Kickoff as it opens against Oregon State University.
