Lightening in the area cut the South Carolina Gamecocks’ practice a little short on Thursday afternoon. It was the Gamecocks’ final work at the Bluff Road practice fields prior to Saturday’s home opener against Louisiana-Lafayette.

“We were about an hour late getting out but we got a little bit done,” said Head Coach Steve Spurrier following the practice session. “We’ll do a little bit more than usual tomorrow. We don’t play until Saturday night so we have plenty of time to rest up.”

Coach Spurrier expects just about anything and everything from Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday night. “I expect them to try to win the game. I expect them to try to do anything within the rules to win the game. That’s what we’re going to do to.”

Coach Spurrier announced that defensive end Jordin Lindsey would not suit up for Saturday’s contest. “Lindsey’s appeal will not be finalized, so he’s not suiting up. He’s out this game. We’re always disappointed when one doesn’t make it academically. It doesn’t happen very often around here. He’s got no one but himself to blame so we can’t sit around and feel sorry for him.”

Saturday’s game is set for 7:05 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium. The game will be televised on a pay-per-view basis throughout the state of South Carolina. Please check with your local cable company for more information.
