As a result of an arrest involving a weapon, University of South Carolina safety Emanuel Cook has been summarily suspended from the University, it was announced today.

Cook, a 5-10, 216-pound sophomore from Riviera Beach, Fla., earned Freshman All-SEC honors in 2006 after tying for third on the team with 47 tackles in 10 games.

The Gamecocks open the 2007 season on Sept. 1 when they host Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.
