NEW YORK, N.Y. – Fourteen members of the South Carolina track and field teams participated in the 101st Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden, led by second-place finishes from senior Jason Richardson, junior Johnathan Hancock and freshman Lakya Brookins.
Johnathan Hancock set a new personal record in the 60-meter dash in 6.87 to finish second. Richardson finished the 60-meter hurdles in 7.85 a year after pulling a hamstring in the same event at the Millrose Games last season. Freshman Johnny Dutch placed third in the event with a time of 7.99.
Brookins and fellow freshman Shayla Mahan ran their fastest times of the year in the 60-meter dash, finishing second and third in the event, respectively. Brookins finished with a time of 7.36, followed by Mahan at 7.44 to round out the Carolina effort.
In other action, junior Trier Young placed fourth in the college 60-meter hurdles in 8.70. The 4x400m relay team finished third in 4:01.63 after using a different combination of runners that the ones that are undefeated thus far with wins at the UNC Classic and Tom Jones Memorial. The men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of four freshmen placed fourth with a time of 3:38.07
