The 23rd-ranked South Carolina Gamecock football team (6-3, 3-3 SEC) continued preparations for Saturday’s SEC showdown with Western Division rival Arkansas (5-3, 1-3 SEC). Saturday’s game is set for an 8:06 p.m. kick at Donald Reynolds Stadium in Fayetteville. The game will be televised on ESPN2 with Mark Jones handling the play-by-play, Bob Davie providing the color commentary and Stacey Dales working the sidelines.
“Heath Batchelor worked with the first unit at right guard,” said Head Coach Steve Spurrier following the two-hour session. “That’s the big news of the day. It appears he’s going to start. He’s the fourth or fifth starting right guard, so maybe he can hang on to it. Seaver (Brown) is still holding on in there (at left guard). I think Garrett (Anderson) backs him up and Gurminder (Thind) is also in there.”
Coach Spurrier confirmed that Dustin Lindsey will miss the remainder of the season. “Dustin is going to need another surgery,” said Coach Spurrier. “In that first game when he covered that kickoff he hurt his knee again. They were hoping it wasn’t as serious as it was, but he needs another surgery.”
The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields on Thursday.
