Gainesville, FL – USC won two events – the women’s 400m hurdles and the 4x200m relay – in the first day of the Pepsi Florida Relays and finished as runner-up in three other events. The meet continues through the weekend at the University of Florida.

Freshman Krystal Cantey won the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 57.40. In the women’s 100m hurdles Chiquita Martin was the runner-up at 13.37 and Ronnetta Alexander was fourth at 13.57. All three times were regional qualifiers.

On the men’s side, Thomas Hilliard was the runner-up in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.17 and Jussi Heikkila was hot on his heels at 51.38 to finish third. Hilliard was eighth in the 110m hurdles at 13.94. All three times were regional qualifiers.

The women’s 4x200m relay ran the quickest time of the day, finishing first at 1:32.16.

Off the track, Tyler Trout was the runner-up in the discus with a whirl of 164′ 10.

Stephanie Smith (53.17) and Brandi Cross (53.78) both ran regional qualifiers, finishing fourth and eighth respectively. On the men’s side Quentin
