LEXINGTON, Ky. — Junior Derek Pressley led the Gamecock track and field program Friday with a second-place finish in the triple jump at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky. Pressley’s leap of 49-7 1/4 was short of an NCAA provisional mark by less than one foot and was less than three inches from tying his personal best.

In the men’s weight throw, Jason Cook was South Carolina’s top finisher with a personal record 58-10 1/4 that placed 11th. Tyler Trout was close behind in 13th place with a toss of 56-10 1/4, and Anthony Faulkner was 20th with a PR of 52-2 1/2.

On the women’s side, Precious Akins took seventh in the 20-pound weight with a 57-6 1/2 mark. Liza Todd pole vaulted 11-9 3/4 to finish No. 8 in the event, while Sallie Gurganus cleared 11-3 3/4 for ninth. CaAdrian Norman was 20th with a 10-0 clearance.

The Rod McCravy Memorial concludes Saturday with the men’s and women’s shot put, women’s high jump, men’s pole vault, men’s and women’s long jump, and the 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, mile, 3,000m, 60m hurdles and 4x400m relay.
