COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina swimming and diving will open up she spring leg of their competition season Saturday when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. to face the N.C. State Wolfpack. The meet is scheduled for a Noon start. Head coach Don Gibb anticipates the spring section of the schedule will help the Gamecocks gear up for the SEC Championships in February.

“I feel we ended the fall season on a positive note,” said head coach Don Gibb. “This will be a good opportunity for us to evaluate what we did over the break. We are about three weeks out from SEC’s and from this meet, we hope to get an idea of what we still need to do to prepare for the Championships.”

The Gamecock men enter the meet 3-3 and the women are 3-4. The Wolfpack men are 3-2, while the women are 3-4. The NC State men and women are both coming off of wins over UNC-Wilmington and losses to conference foe Virginia Tech last weekend.

The Gamecocks last saw action in early December at the Ohio State Invitational. At the Invitational, the men finished fourth and the women placed first. This will be the Gamecocks’ final non-conference event of the year. USC will take on Florida and Alabama in Tuscaloosa next weekend to conclude the season. The SEC Diving Championships will be held Feb. 1-3, while the Swimming Championships will be Feb. 7-10. Lexington, Ky. will be the site of the competition.
