Columbia, S.C. – The Gamecock women held out over hosts Ohio State to win the Ohio State Invitational with a score of 793 points, a 14 point margin over OSU. Utah and Iowa came in third and fourth respectively. The South Carolina men finished fourth with 499 point. Minnesota dominated the men’s side, winning with a total of 1,193 points. Ohio State finished second with 749 points, 444 points behind Minnesota.

Veterans Christy Williams and Lindsey Tiberio led the Gamecocks on the final day of competition, earning the teams two victories of the day. Williams won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.10. Tiberio won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.36. Both girls set meet records and earned NCAA b-standard times. The Gamecock women also claimed second and third place in the 200 breast with Amanda Dunnigan finishing second and Carly Hensel finishing third. Sharntelle McLean claimed a third place finish in the 100 free. The 400 freestyle relay team of Kassy Kugler, Diana Lopez, Sharntelle McLean, and Christy Williams finished second and earned a NCAA b-standard time.

The Gamecock men also had some strong performances in the final day of competition. Dan White finished fourth in the 1650 free with a time of 15:43.86. Kyle Cormier tied for second in the 100 free with a time of 44.92. Leopoldo Andara finished fifth in the 200 butterfly. The men’s 400 relay team of Colby Mack, Dan White, Christian Robledo, and Kyle Cormier finished 3rd.

Overall the Gamecocks earned more than ten NCAA qualifying times, set four meet records and one pool record. South Carolina will have two more regular season events in January before they enter post season competition. Their next meet will be against North Carolina State in Raleigh on January 13.
