University of South Carolina offensive tackle Jamon Meredith has been named as the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts in the Gamecocks’ 31-28 win at 24th-ranked Clemson on Saturday.
Meredith, a 6-4, 290-pound sophomore from Simpsonville, S.C., helped the South Carolina offense churn out 492 total yards in the victory over the Tigers. The Gamecocks accounted for 208 yards on the ground and 284 through the air against the fifth-ranked defense in the nation, one that entered the game allowing just 250 yards per contest.
Carolina’s yards gained and total first downs (28) were the school’s most in the Steve Spurrier era.
Meredith is the fifth Gamecock to earn the weekly accolades from the SEC, joining Ryan Succop, Sidney Rice, Casper Brinkley and Blake Mitchell.
