The University of South Carolina football squad (4-2, 2-2 SEC) continued its preparations for Saturday afternoon’s tilt at Vanderbilt (3-4, 1-3 SEC) by working out at the Bluff Road practice fields on Thursday afternoon. That Vandy game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET and will be available throughout the states of South Carolina and Tennessee on a pay-per-view basis and across the nation as part of ESPN’s GamePlan package. USC fans at Commodore Stadium can listen to the action on the Gamecock radio network by tuning in to 92.5 FM.

Notes from Thursday’s practice:

• Sidney Rice worked out at safety in a prevent defense situation, while defensive tackle Stanley Doughty practiced some at offensive guard and would be available in short yardage situations, according to Head Coach Steve Spurrier.

• Seth Edwards is expected to start at right guard on Saturday, replacing Garrett Anderson.

• Andy Boyd and Carlos Thomas continued to practice this week and are penciled in as starters for Saturday. Both are coming off injuries.

• Chris Hail worked out this week at cornerback and could see action on the defensive side of the ball. He has changed to number 18 from 86.

• Safety Emanuel Cook, who has missed the last three games, will be available, but will not start on Saturday. Stoney Woodson and Chris Hampton are the projected starters at safety.
