Columbia, S.C. – The Carolina Gamecock swimming and diving teams will compete against the Clemson Tigers on Friday, November 3 at 5:00 p.m. All fans are invited to come and watch the action at the Carolina Natatorium housed in the Blatt P.E. Center. The Gamecock men will hope to follow up their victory over No. 23 Kentucky last week with another win. They are currently 2-2 for the season. The South Carolina women are currently 2-3. The Clemson men currently have a 3-2 record, and the women have 2-4 on the season.

“Every year we look forward to this meet. It is always exciting and the emotions are always high. We just want to continue to get better and improve,” said head coach Don Gibb. “We are hoping for a good crowd to come out and cheer us on.”

South Carolina will be offering several incentives for fans to attend the meet. The first 50 people will receive free pizza, while the first 100 people will receive a free gamecock visor. There will also be a drawing for a pair of tickets to this weekend’s homecoming football game against Arkansas. There will also be other be other opportunities to earn free Gamecock merchandise throughout the event.

South Carolina is coming off of a strong performance against the ranked teams of Tennessee and Kentucky and should be a tough opponent for the Tigers. Several of South Carolina’s newcomers have impressive starts to the season. Junior transfer Leopoldo Andara, currently has the fourth fastest time of the season in the SEC for the 200 butterfly, and the ninth fastest time in the 200IM. Freshman Dominique Lendjel has the eighth fastest time in the 200 backstroke and the sixth fastest time in the 200IM. On the women’s side returning All-american Christy Williams has the sixth fastest SEC time in the 200 butterfly. Diver Lyndsey Havens leads the SEC on both the one- and three-meter boards.
