COLUMBIA, S.C. – Swimmers Christy Williams and Lindsey Tiberio, and diver Allison Brennan will represent South Carolina at the 2006 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend, March 16-18 in Athens, Ga. Hosted by the University of Georgia, the championships will feature the best collegiate swimmers and divers in the country. USC is one of eight Southeastern Conference schools that will be represented at the meet.

Williams, a sophomore, is making her second trip to the NCAA Championships. The Newark, Del. native will compete in the 200 IM, the 100-butterfly and the 200-butterfly. Williams’ qualifying time in the 200 IM is 2:03.63, and in the 100-fly it is 54.55. In the 200-fly, she holds her highest seed, 18th, with a time of 1:59.12.

Tiberio, a junior from Connellsville, Pa. is scheduled to swim in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Her highest seed is 12th in the 100-breast with a time of 1:01.83, and in the 200-breast, she qualified with a time of 2:18.22. This is the first NCAA Championship for Tiberio.

SEC one-meter champion, Brennan, is coming off of a first place finish at the Zone B Championships and hopes to continue her win streak in the event. Nationally, there were only six scores higher than Brennan’s in all of the Zones combined. A two-time All-American, Brennan was the 2004 NCAA National Champion in the one-meter and hopes to add a second to her portfolio. This will be the third appearance at the Championships for the Huntington Beach, Calif. native.
