Columbia, SC – The South Carolina swimming and diving teams finished their regular season off with a home tri-meet Saturday afternoon. South Carolina’s women team beat Alabama scoring 168 to 131 and lost to nationally ranked No. 1 Georgia with a score of 190 to 110. The men fell 206 to 91 against Alabama and 158.5 to 140.5 to Georgia.

“Today both the men and the women looked tired and sluggish in the pool,” said head swimming coach Don Gibb. “We still have the time we need to rest and polish up for the SEC Championships. The 200-freestyle relays were both exciting today. On the men’s team Christian Robledo and Colby Mack had solid performances. Mandee Cregar and Christy Williams on the women’s team did very well today too.”

The USC men took first in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.63. Dan White took second in the 1000-freestyle (9:26.36) and Colby Mack placed second in the 200-freestyle (1:40.08).

The women’s 200-freestyle relay also won with a time of 1:36.76. The Gamecock women took second in the 200-medley relay (1:42.73). Christy Williams had a solid performance today taking second in the 100-butterfly (55.93) and third in the 200-butterfly (2:05.21). Haley Skaggs and Diana Lopez placed second and third in the 50-freestyle.

On the diving side, Allison Brennen won the one-meter board with a score of 295.60 and the 3-meter board with 320.25. Tracey Richardson placed third in both boards scoring 273.40 on the 1-meter board and 287.40 on the 3-meter.

“The girls did well today on both boards,” said diving coach Todd Sherritt. “This was an excellent meet for Allison Brennan and Tracey Richardson in their last home meet. We will be training hard for the next few weeks preparing for the SEC Championship.”
