Sacramento, Calif. –
South Carolina men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Sacramento, Calif. on Sunday for the NCAA Outdoor Championship to be held at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex on June 8-11.

The men’s team, led by a strong group of six athletes who qualified for the national meet, will be competing to finish in the top 20. The women’s team is coming off Southeastern Conference and East Regional Championship wins, and though ranked No. 4 behind Texas, UCLA and Miami, the Gamecocks are contending this week for what would be their second national title in four years.

“We’re looking forward to competing at the NCAA Championship,” said Head Coach Curtis Frye. “Our athletes are excited, they’re healthy and it’s going to be a great competition.”

Competition will kick-off on Wednesday, June 8th with round one of the women’s 4x100m relay at 4 p.m. as the first running event for the Gamecocks. In the field, Gamecock action will begin with the qualifying round of the men’s long jump at 4:30 p.m. Recaps and results will be available following the meet at www.uscsports.com and www.ncaasports.com.
