Columbia, S.C. – o The University of South Carolina took to the practice field again Monday afternoon, working out in shorts and helmets. It was the second workout for Coach Steve Spurrier’s Gamecocks. Approximately 300 fans were in attendance for the two-hour session.

o Following the practice, Coach Steve Spurrier met with members of the media. Here are some of his comments: “It was a good practice. We didn’t get anyone hurt and that’s a plus. The wide receivers had a good day. They ran some good routes and caught the ball pretty well. Kris Clark, Sidney Rice and Syvelle Newton made some nice catches. The quarterbacks are doing pretty good. Brett Nichols is a good athlete who can run. He throws a nice ball. I’ve seen guys like him turn into pretty good players. It looks like Cory Boyd will be out the rest of the week (hamstring). I think we had a good group of athletes here; I really do. I hope the offensive line does a better job of blocking once they put on the pads. They kind of let the defense run through the line today.”

o Injury update: TB Cory Boyd (hamstring) is out; OL William Brown (low back strain) is out; WR Michael Flint (shoulder) is limited: CB Fred Bennett (shoulder) is limited; OL John Paul Gillis (back surgery) is out; OL James Thompson (stress fracture in foot) is out.

o The Gamecocks return to the practice field Wednesday at 4 p.m. The practice is open to the public. Coach Spurrier will address the media at the practice fields following the workout at approximately 6 p.m.
