Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina football team held a full-pad practice Wednesday. Following are comments from head coach Steve Spurrier:
“It was a rugged, sloppy practice today. We’re a struggling bunch of Gamecocks right now. Antonio Heffner hasn’t gotten a lot of snaps with the number one offense, so we’re going to get him in there with those guys tomorrow. He is doing a little better, so let’s give him a chance. The defensive guys are working hard. They look good. De’Adrian Coley has a chance to be a big-time player. With the offense, assignment-wise, we are way off. We’re not blocking how we should. I was a little frustrated today, but it will get better. It didn’t look like our quarterbacks were well-coached and I’ll take responsibility for that. We need to keep on them and yell at them a bit and we need to pat them on the back a bit as well. We still have got a ways to go.”
NOTE: Inclement weather in the Columbia area could end up moving the practice originally scheduled for this Friday up to Thursday. Visit www.uscsports.com late morning/early afternoon on Thursday for an official update.
