Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina’s football team worked out in shorts Monday evening under the lights as preparations began for this Saturday’s SEC contest against the Ole Miss Rebels. Kickoff time at Williams-Brice Stadium is 1 p.m. The game will be available as a pay-per-view telecast in the state of South Carolina. Interested subscribers should contact their local cable companies to order.

* Injury update from the Gamecock camp: QB Dondrial Pinkins had a MRI performed on his right shoulder late Monday afternoon. The test revealed that Pinkins has a deep bruise. He did not practice Monday and is not expected to practice Tuesday. The medical staff will treat the shoulder and he will be re-evaluated later in the week. Sophomore quarterback Syvelle Newton would get his second career start if Pinkins is unable to go Saturday against the Rebels … LB Lance Laury has a sprained left knee but is expected to be available Saturday; DT Darrell Shropshire (neck sprain) practiced Monday evening, as did FS Ko Simpson (ankle sprain).

* Junior kicker Josh Brown was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the victory over Alabama Saturday. Brown was successful on both of his field goal attempts and averaged 41.5 yards punting, with two of his punts being downed inside the 20-yard line.

* USC’s game at Kentucky on Oct. 16 was not selected by network television. Start time for that matchup will be 7 p.m.
