Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina’s football team (5-3/3-3) reviewed the film of Saturday’s game against Tennessee Sunday afternoon and went through a brisk 75-minute workout in shorts and helmets under the lights later that evening. The Gamecocks will play host to Arkansas (3-4/1-3) this Saturday, Nov. 6 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:33 p.m. with Jefferson Pilot Sports televising across the SEC network.

* Earlier in the afternoon, head coach Lou Holtz spoke to the media via teleconference. Here are some of his comments: “Looking at the film, I thought Dondrial Pinkins played like a true quarterback. He was very much involved in the game. There was one play that he didn’t stay within the system, but other than that, it was probably his best game. The interception he threw when his arm got hit was unfortunate. He had Andrea Gause running down the middle of the field and someone broke free and hit his arm. That was a critical play. We’ve got to find a way to get on top; find a way to win these games down the stretch. We had 8-9 bad plays on defense and 8-9 bad plays on offense. I was proud of the team’s effort. They played hard the entire game … Arkansas is coming off an open date. They have a very solid team. Matt Jones gives you a lot of problems at quarterback. He may be the MVP of this league. They play extremely hard and they are a fundamentally sound football team … Demetris Summers played well against Tennessee. He can be proud of the way he played. I think he elevated his game to another level. He made some tough yardage and he played through injuring his ankle again … They (UT) got the momentum right before the half and again at the beginning of the third quarter and we couldn’t seem to get it back. This is a tough stretch, but we have to find a way to rise above it … The T formation worked for us pretty well. We used it in short yardage and a few times in the middle of the field. There were a couple of plays that didn’t work out of it because of missed assignments … This will be the last home game for the seniors. We’re 3-0 in the SEC on the road and 0-3 at home. Maybe we feel a little more pressure playing at home; I don’t know.

* OT Jabari Levey (ankle) went through most of Sunday evening’s practice, although he said the ankle was a little sore following the workout.

* Head coach Lou Holtz will conduct his weekly news conference Monday (11/1) at 12 noon in the Lettermen’s Lounge of Williams-Brice Stadium.
