The South Carolina swimming and diving teams will wrap up their regular season hosting the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday at the Carolina Natatorium which will also serve as Senior Day for the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks will have nine seniors honored at the meet. Head Coach Don Gibb stated “They are top shelf kids who have been great workers in the pool. They are all outstanding student-athletes and value being a part of a team and being a part of the University of South Carolina. They have helped put us on the map in the national spotlight”

The Gamecocks are coming off of a thrilling victory against the University of Alabama last Friday where both the men and women won 127-115. The women were led by Ashleigh Bastak placing first in the 100 yard free style, Aunya Nance finishing first in the 200 yard breaststroke and Heather Skaggs coming in first in the 200 yard breaststroke. The women also took first in the 400 yard medley relay.

For the men, Istvan Bathazi came in first in the 200 yard bacstroke and the 200 yard IM. Tamas Szucs also had two top finishes in the 500 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle. The men finished in first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Diver Andy Bradley finished first in the 1 meter diving.

When asked about the meet with the Bulldogs Coach Gibb stated “It’s a good opportunity for our team to compete against one of the top teams of the nation. Jack Bauerle does a great job with his program at Georgia and it should be an exciting meet for us, with senior day and our last chance to swim in our pool. We came away with some confidence from our win last week vs. Alabama and hopefully our team can move forward as we get closer to the SEC Championships.”

Action is set to begin at 1 p.m.
