Gamecocks Travel to Knoxville for Invite

Knoxville, TN – South Carolina swimming and diving is in Knoxville, TN, to compete in the Tennessee Invitational. The three day, championship style meet will begin on Thu., Nov. 18, and run through Sat, Nov. 20, at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee. Results will be available on the Meet Mobile app and on HyTek web results.
 
The Gamecocks will compete against teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas (women only), Virginia, UNLV, Carson-Newman, and Emory (diving only). This will be South Carolina’s first time attending an invite event since the 2019-20 season.
 
Gamecock Notables

  • Both the Gamecock men’s and women’s teams enter the invite 2-1 on the season with wins over Gardner-Webb and Queens.
  • Senior Ellie Masterson will compete in the 400 IM as the No. 10 seed after taking first place in the Gamecocks’ most recent meet with a time of 4:23.81.
  • Junior Janie Smith will compete in the 100 fly as well as the 50, 100, and 200 free. Smith is seeded as No. 8 in the 100 free and No. 9 in the 200 free.
  • In the women’s 1650 free, Haley Arner is the No. 5 seed, while Hayley Mason comes in at No. 8. The two Gamecocks went 1-2 in both the 500 and 1000 free in the Gamecocks’ meet versus Queens.
  • Three Gamecocks are in the topv10 for the men’s 500 free. Hendrik Faber is No. 5, Tamas Novoszath is No.7 and Rafael Davila is No 8. All three men are also in the top 10 for the 1650 free.
  • Freshman Michael Laitarovsky will compete in the 50 and 100 free, the 100 fly, and the 100 and 200 backstroke. He is seeded at No. 5 for the 100 back.
  • Junior Patrick Groters will compete in the 200 backstroke as the No. 6 seed. He swam a career best time of 1:47.47 at Georgia to earn his placement.
