Schultz Earns Third Conference Recognition of the Season
Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina graduate diver Brooke Schultz has been named the Women’s Diver of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday. This marks Schultz’s third weekly honor of the season.
At the Gamecocks’ meet at Duke on Friday, Schultz earned her third springboard sweep in as many dual appearances. The Fayetteville, Arkansas, native scored a 344.48 in the 1-meter event and a 353.55 in the 3-meter event to contribute 18 points to the team.
Her score of 344.48 on the 1-meter springboard broke Duke’s pool record of 335.85 that was set by Virginia Tech’s Kaylea Arnett in 2014 by 8.63 points.
Schultz then went on to win the 1-meter event again the next day at South Carolina’s dual at North Carolina. She scored a 325.58 for first place on the 1-meter springboard, and a 346.80 for third place on the 3-meter springboard, earning 12 points for the team.
Across the four duals that Schultz has competed in this season, she is undefeated in the 1-meter event and has won three 3-meter competitions.
All four of Schultz’s scores this week met the NCAA Zone qualifying standard. All eight of her scores this season have also achieved the standard for Zone qualifications.
Schultz and the rest of South Carolina’s divers will be in action next at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville Nov. 17-19. South Carolina’s swimmers will remain at home to host the Gamecock Invitational Nov. 16-18.
