Women's Swimming, Diving SECs Start Wednesday in Athens and Columbia

First time since 1986 the conference meet held at separate host sites

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina swimming and diving opens postseason competition on Wednesday with the SEC Women’s Championships and the SEC Men’s and Women’s Diving Championships. Both meets will run Feb. 17-20 with swimming taking place at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. and diving being hosted at Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo.

The men’s championship will also be hosted by Missouri next week (Feb. 23-26).

This marks the first time in 35 years the SEC Championships will be held in separate venues. In 1986, the women’s swimming and diving championship was held in Knoxville, Tenn. and the men’s championship in Baton Rouge, La.

“This is an entirely new thing for us,” said head coach McGee Moody. “One of the great things about the SEC Championship that always sets us apart from everyone else is that it’s combined. The energy that meet brings is unlike any in the country. This year because of COVID we had to change that up. We’re excited. In August and September, we didn’t know how this was going to happen.”

Prelims in Athens will start at 10 a.m. ET every day and finals will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and 6 p.m. the remaining three days. A full breakdown of the swimming schedule with streaming (SEC Network+) and live stats links can be found by clicking here.

Prelims for the 1-meter at Mizzou Aquatic Center begin at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The 1-meter finals begin at 8:10 p.m. A full breakdown of the diving schedule with streaming (SEC Network+) and live results links can be found by clicking here.
